DC&R ZipServe^TM

ZipServe is DC&R's database hosting service. While anyone can host a database search, we specialize in location-based searches, enabling a web-visitor to enter a US ZIP Code, Canadian Postal Code, city, state/province, or an area code and find the closest location in your database.

Using ZipServe hosting from your web site is simple and you can update your database and your search and result pages any time you like.

        The ThinkFun Store Finder — The Smart Toy People. This company makes some of our favorite puzzles. If you're a puzzle person, you'll find their stuff great for kids and adults (Rush Hour, Lunar Lockout, and Hoppers are among our kid and adult tested favorites!)

        The DATIA Search Page — a search with about 40 different criteria beyond distance to a location. It also shows a multi-level search result, where the first page is a summary, listing many locations and each can be clicked for a more detailed result, including a map link and data from a second relationally-linked database. Check it out!

Linking to Maps

It's VERY easy to link to a free map site, and much less expensive than licensing custom map software. The DATIA search has a map link on it's detail pages (do a search and click a company on the summary result page to view the detail page, where you'll see a map link).

Linking to our Servers

Most ZipServe clients link their web sites to search.zipserve.com/company/, but you can also set up your search to run from a virtual domain like: search.YourDomain.com, or hide the search within a frame, or use a server-side include with ASP, PERL, or PHP to completely hide our server and simply present the results.

Pricing

Shared ZipServe Hosting costs start at $35/month for U.S. ZIP Codes and locations, $35/month for Canadian Postal Codes and locations and $65/month for both US and Canadian Postal Code searches. In the case of all three options, US, Canada, and US and Canada, you get 30,000 searches per month or up to 2Gb of traffic a month and are charged the same monthly rate for additional blocks of 30,000 searches or 2Gb or traffic, which ever comes first.

Initial set up costs range from $150 to $300 for a simple site. The set up cost for a complex multi-search or multi-page site can be much higher.

You have access to your search and result pages, log files, and database and may update them yourself via FTP as often as you like. At your option, we can take care of updates for you based on a minimum 1/2 hour of service. Also, if you update your search yourself and require assistance the hourly rate for service also applies with a 1/2 hour minimum.

Dedicated ZipServe Hosting is available at one of our recommended hosting facilities or a site you choose. Please call for pricing. Some clients prefer this as it means they get to keep their data on-site locally, or at their local ISP rather than at a remote location.

Dedicated hosting is also preferred when you have very high traffic levels and a dedicated server becomes more cost effective.

With dedicated hosting we set up your server and maintain it, if desired so you don't need to invest in learning about specialized hardware or software.
